River Levels

River Level Information

River level information is available from a number of web sites displaying information from The Bureau Of Meteorology, DPIWE and The Hydro. Experience is required to access the validity of the information, some being 24 hrs to 7 days old, some gauges have have been known to have erroneous heights shown on occasion. Use the automated information as a guide, coupled with rainfall data, rainfall / weather pattern predictions and any release information obtained from The Hydro – at all times visual inspection should be undertaken and judgement applied when getting on the river rather than blind faith in electronic data. River levels can change while you’re on the river due to rainfall and Hydro discharges.
